A 501(c)(3) nonprofit

We give grants directly to people doing good.

Our Kindness Grants go directly to individuals, not institutions or programs — people whose kindness, generosity, or acts of service are making life better for others.

$500–$2,500 One person · One direct gift

Our Kindness Grants go directly to individuals whose kindness, generosity, or acts of service are making life better for others.

Who we support

People doing good.

This is the heart of Something For Good.

We look for people whose kindness, generosity, or simple acts of service are making life better for someone else — often without recognition and often without being asked. The acts themselves can be simple. The difference they make in someone else's life is extraordinary.

How it works

A simple process, carefully applied.

We keep the process short so help arrives quickly. Every grant is researched, verified, and given with intention.

01

We listen closely.

We are hyperlocal in approach and national in reach. We look for people already doing good — the ones who show up quietly, without fanfare, again and again. Their stories reach us through the people who see them up close: social workers, teachers, coaches, neighbors.

02

We learn the story.

Before any grant goes out, we verify the nominee and confirm the nomination aligns with our mission. We take the time to understand what a grant would mean for them, and we confirm they wish to be recognized in this way.

03

We give directly

The grant goes straight to the individual, as a one-time gift that recognizes their kindness and celebrates the person behind it.

If you know someone that you believe deserves to be recognized, please nominate now. We accept nominations for individuals anywhere in the United States.

Who we serve

Real grants, real people.

A small amount of support at the right moment changes what happens next. Here's what that has looked like.

Danielle trains rescue dogs and brings them into hospice care so people near the end of life have company. She chose to spend her grant on a surprise Christmas party for kids in her town.

For years Marcus delivered free firewood to twelve families on a reservation who heat their homes with wood, using an axe and an aging truck. He chose to spend his grant on a chainsaw and new tires so he could keep going.

Quame, an aspiring photographer, sold his camera to help cover his family's medical bills. He used his grant to replace it — then chose to pay it forward, making a documentary for a local nonprofit that earned a Mountainfilm nomination. He also teaches photography to kids in his community.

Why Something For Good

Kindness is everywhere.

A single act can ripple outward, inspiring another. We may never be able to answer every need — but we can notice one person, honor one act of kindness, and help something good continue.

One person. One direct gift. One moment when something good can make a difference.
